Discovery Center Museum in Rockford, Illinois will host 6 Family Fun Day events between July and August of 2021. Designed as educational and entertaining programs for families, Family Fun Days focus on a specific subject matter and then explore that subject through various means, including activities, demonstrations, make-and-take projects, and performances.
Advance online reservations are recommended or by Phone at 815-963-6769.
All event activities included with admission: $9/Adult; $9/Child; Free to Members and all children ages one and younger. Advance online reservations are recommended. Guests can choose from 9:30-Noon or 1-4:00 pm play sessions.

Superheroes and Princesses
Don your disguise or polish your tiara, and join our gathering of superheroes and princesses. Come in costume and bring your imagination for enchanting make-believe that uses real math and science. Assess your super-powers, design a mask or crown, create a magic wand, fabricate a superhero shield, and more!

Put on your overalls and boots for this rural romp! Meet and greet live bunnies, cows, goats, and ducks as we bring a barnyard of fun to Discovery Center! Our friends from the Winnebago-Boone County Farm Bureau will be on hand with activities sure to excite future farmers!

Engineering Escapades
Real tools + recycled materials + imagination = creative fun! You’ll be amazed at what you can make and take home during this day of fanciful fabrication! Engineer a boat that floats, construct a flashlight, create flying contraptions and more.

Olympic Challenge
No need to travel to Japan to compete in the Olympics…Discovery Center is the place to be to earn a gold medal! Can you create the biggest bubble or beat the long jump record? Can you master the obstacle course? Become a Discovery Center Olympian for a day and explore the exhibits in a whole new way. Compete in challenges around the museum, and then stop by the Art Studio to create your own medal.

Splatter Art
What fun you’ll have with drips and drops on this day where art takes center stage! Create masterpieces in unusual ways using fly swatters, paperclips, magnets, shaving cream and more!

Blast off with stellar science during this interactive event about space! Investigate the moon, form a star and imagine life on another planet!
ABOUT DISCOVERY CENTER MUSEUM
Discovery Center Museum is a children’s science museum providing math, science and art experiences for all ages with over 250 hand-on exhibits, planetarium, special area for children ages 6 and younger, and an outdoor science park.
Discovery Center Museum is the nation’s 5th Best Museum for Families according to USA TODAY/10Best.com, and one of 12 museums included in Forbes.com’s article, The 12 Best Children’s Museums in the U.S. In 2020 Discovery Center earned Trip Advisor’s Travelers Choice distinction.
